Four-star review for "Communication" on
UK release
24 September 2011
The actors play the
characters with raw honesty, making the
characters believable while playing on
expectations and assumptions. Clearly
Jacob is struggling with Orthodox views
of homosexuality, although filmmaker
Banks never pushes the point: is he
wondering about Andrew or himself? It
doesn't really matter, actually, as the
film has other things to explore.

The Colonel's Outing: Review (GayNZ.com)
15 April 2011
"It
is a gentle and tender tale which
includes complexities which make its
length of just less than 17 minutes seem
almost inconceivable. The filmmakers
have an art of fitting just the right
amount of depth into their stories,
through subtleties and cleverly-timed
dialogue, allowing surprises to
gracefully wade in."

Communication: DVD review
1 December 2010
The plight of the intergenerational
relationship is explored wonderfully in
Communication – Chris and the crew
depict the story with a respectful
tenderness; these are the stories that
are not often told, and Communication
does a great job of showing the bond of
two people who have lived through
different times.
